Squash Rackets, 1928 until now

The standardisation of rackets began simply with the maximum length in 1928. Other dimensions have been added, notably stringing area, and the move away from wood permitted.


1928 When the Rules of Squash were first published in 1928 the racket specification was very simple indeed. Just two lines! They stated: The standard length is 27 inches. The head is not to be larger than that of a rackets racquet.


1935 By 1935 some flesh was added to the specification, while the length remained at 27 inches as it has done until today.
